IAAF OFFICIALLY CHANGES NAME TO WORLD ATHLETICS
The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) will now be officially called as World Athletics. The sport's international governing body not only changed it's name and logo on all social media platforms but also the URL of it's official website.
ATHLETICS FIJI ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVES
Following the Annual General Meeting on the 19th of September, 2019, Athletics Fiji elected a whole new set of Executives to lead the sport of Athletics for the next four years.
NEMANI TUKUNIA ELECTED INTO EXECUTIVE BOARD OF OCEANIA MASTERS ATHLETICS
Athletics Fiji General Secretary Nemani Tukunia was elected into the Executive Board of Oceania Masters Athletics (OMA) at the Annual General Meeting over the weekend in Mackay, Australia.
IAAF LEVEL I COACHING COURSE
Athletics Fiji in conjunction with FASANOC, IAAF, Oceania Athletics and the IOC conducted a 2 week long coaching workshop that was facilitated by Albert Miller Snr and assistant lecturer Makelesi Bulikiobo.
2019 PACIFIC GAMES
Athletics Fiji had a goal of winning a total of 11 gold medals but fell short by 1 gold medal. Despite public back lash about team selection and the continuous athletes subjugation on social media, the team performed exceptionally well compared to the 2015 Pacific Games team.
FIRST TIME FIJI JOINS #FIRSTMILE
Four of Fiji’s national athletes joined 50 children and adults in Suva to for the Fiji Run 24-1 to kick start the IAAF Run 24-1 We had about 50 plus participants and 3 Athletics Fiji officials.
FALL SMASHES NATIONAL SHOT PUT RECORD
National Record holder in the Shot Put, Mustafa Fall, set a new national record last weekend at the Kansas Relays, USA. Fall has become the first Fijian to throw the 7.26kg shot put 17.00m.
FIJI GAMES – ROAD TO SAMOA 2019
The 2019 XVI Fiji Games Athletics Program will be held on Saturday the 20th of April as Athletics Fiji look towards bettering their outing from the 2015 Pacific Games and the 2017 Mini Pacific Games.
