MILLER AND WAQA RECEIVE FIJI 50 INDEPENDENCE COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL

Athletics Fiji’s President Filimoni Vuli Waqa and former Pacific Games decathlon champion were among the 31 recipients who received their Fiji 50 Independence Commemorative Medal from President, Jioji Konrote yesterday (26/10/2020).

Talking to fijivillage.com yesterday Mr. Miller says that “he has received recognition from World Athletics, Oceania Athletics and FASANOC for his contribution but it means a lot when your Government recognizes this.”

Both Mr. Miller and Mr. Waqa have a combine 50 years plus of service and contribution to the sport of Athletics in Fiji and throughout the region as an athlete, coach, technical official and or course lecturer.

Current Athletics Fiji President, Vuli Waqa’s passion and contribution for the sport of Athletics goes un-noticed has he prefers to be the “Behind the scenes” type of worker and is synonymous with the planning and execution of the annual Coca Cola Games – Fiji’s biggest athletics event.

Athletics Fiji would like to congratulate both Vuli Waqa and Albert Miller Snr on their nominations.
