Fiji’s performance at this year’s SPG was better, compared to the last SPG in 2011 where fiji only managed 4 gold medals that came in from the Men’s 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay and Javelin.
This year, all the senior athletes of the team brought home gold medals from the team. They included Rajendra Prasad in the Men’s High Jump, 2 from Banuve Tabakaucoro in the 100m & 200m, Eugene Vollmer in the Men’s Triple Jump and Leslie Copeland in the Men’s Javelin throw.
One the women’s side saw Milika Tuivanuavou leading the charge by winning the Women’s Shot put then the ladies 4x100m relay causing the upset of the meet by beating favourites PNG for the gold.
