A truly amazing turn out at the Levuka Fun Run/Wal

A truly amazing turn out at the Levuka Fun Run/Walk for Life that took place on the island of Ovalau at Nassau Park. The event was a fundraiser event where all proceedings went towards works and renovations for the Town Hospital.

Big vinaka vakalevu to the town of Levuka, all participants, Suva Marathon Club and special sponsors of the event, Bumble Bee.

Looking forward to more events in the beautiful old capital!!

Athletics Fiji hosted our first competition since the lockdown and cancellation and postponement of sporting events around the world due to COVID-19.

August 8th, 2020 was the date set aside by World Athletics for all Athletics federations around the world to hold their respective nationals and to adopt the Safe in Sport Pledge.

As an affiliate to World Athletics, we are committed to working towards safer sport for all children everywhere.
We pledge to promote and advocate for the Safeguards through our networks, and commit to embedding them in our work.

National Record Alert‼ Mustafa Fall set a new In

National Record Alert‼ Mustafa Fall set a new Indoor Fiji National Record and a new Coffeyville Community College School record of 17.65m.

This is the 2nd time Fall has set and broken the Fiji Indoor National Record this season.

This throw won Fall the NJCAA Regional Conference and he is now ranked No. 2 in the nation for the NJCAA division.

OUR RAKESA JAVELIN'S TO 6TH PLACE IN MEN'S F41 FINAL
Fiji's Iosefa Rakesa finished 6th in the Men's F41 Javelin final with a throw of 39.95m on the last day of Fiji's competition at the 2019 Dubai Para Athletics Championship.
Team Coach Albert Miller was impressed with Rakesa's efforts adding that the throw was his best so far. "Iosefa is gradually picking up confidence thus the need for more international exposure and I further believe that the time frame between us now and 2020 should enable us to fully prepare ourselves well in Tokyo". Event winner Sun P of China had set a benchmark of 44.35 followed by W.Nukhailawi of Iraq at 43.96 and third winner K.AbdulRaheem also of Iraq at 42.24.

Mr Miller adds that team Fiji now looks forward to the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.
